Thought this might be a good time to explain how and why I ended up here, on PCP (not heroin, Angel Dust; everyone makes that mistake!)
Several years ago at our yearly zen retreat, I met this interesting couple. Well I guess they weren't a couple, per se, but there was two of 'em: Gwen and Patrick, the founders of Yoga Garden in Yokohama.
As I am oft to do, i made fun of the Yoga Hippies, with their baggy clothes and casual attitude.
Then one night after various sessions of sitting all day, they ran us through some basic yoga postures before bedtime.
Wow, that hurt.
And thus I decided never again to make fun of Yoga Hippies, for under their baggy clothes I discovered minimal body fat, lean muscle, excellent balance, intense breathing, and an inner calm that mirrored their physical achievement.
Later on, whilst cruising the internets, I noticed that Gwen was sporting even more awesome guns than a battleship, and she seemed to be participating in some modern blood-sport preperatory regime.
Last year, I ran into Patrick again at the yearly zen retreat, and as unbelievable as it was, he was even MORE fit; shoulders wide like a bull, not a spec of fat, but yet he could do full splits, and could balance on one leg whilst regaling us to breathe deeply and relax.
Turns out he's not just the creator of PCP but also a happy client.
I was interested and tentatively signed up to start in January...then life got in the way and I delayed...then I finally mann'd up and decided to get on the ball for March.
Figure I'd do 90 days of PCP, see what happens, and then see how well I can maintain whatever it is I've accomplished by the time of my annual health check in August.

Hey, that could be my new catch-phrase... "If I could nut up so can YOU!"
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Renfield. You are in for a dizzying, exciting time!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing so much of your journey. I am interested to see how I/we can maintain a "loose fitting purpose" through the days. I envy that you can go to Patrick's studio. That would be a nice source of support. Go man Go!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting that link to the zen retreat! I found some new reading material.
