day the second

Not feeling mad hungry yet, but give it time and I'm sure it will come.
Ended up going to fighting at lunchtime because I like it and it's fun (and I am about the only guy in a room full of Japanese housewives who spend all day doing yoga and aerobics and karate so it's pretty motivating, in many different ways), but today was 45 minutes of kicking, so my legs are feeling it.
After work I walked up to The Magical Land of Shopping that is Donki, attempting to load up on the necessary workout supplies.
Cheap push-up bars: get.
Better jumprope: fail.
Stretch band: repeat fail.
Hit the Subway for a half turkey breast on honey wheat...and realized I ordered a "regular", which is half of a footlong, which is what I usually get (with fries), which is just Too Damn Much Sandwich. So I ate my whole-half sandwich on the rest of the walk home, changed, got my gear, and headed down the garage.
My last jumprope set I managed somehow to get through 50 jumps, though the previous sets were slaughter the likes of which we have not seen since my grandpa stormed the beaches of Normandy and liberated France. Someone please explain to my jumprope that it is not actually supposed to smack into the back of my head before plunging ungracefully down in front of me heading directly for my shins.
So yeah I am still working on that jumprope thing.
A dumb question on lunges: is 10 lunges = 5 left and 5 right, or 20 in total, 10 each side? I wasn't sure so did 10 each side...overkill?
Pushups are not too bad, but they are working; I have purposefully not looked at the rest of the week yet but if I have to do more pushups every day I is gonna feel it real good.
Legs lifts are 90% easy; the first nine don't feel like anything and that last one of the set burns like the worst chili of a Tijuana Sunday morning. Yeah, ow.

  1. Greetings Renfield!

Yeah, there's no explaining anything to the jumprope. It don't listen. My first one had this morbid desire to kill me! (I'm onto my third now.)

It'll take a while, but eventually the jumprope will be your friend.

  2. If you can get one, try a leather skipping rope. They only cost about a tenner (don't know what that would be in Yen) and almost indestructible. Plus, being heavier, they are easier to skip with.

  3. I saw some leather ones on the internets...will head down to a proper sporting goods store this weekend and see if I can't get something better before the end of week one, which apparently ends with a jumprope marathon? Joy.
